You at Your Best

by admin on March 13, 2010

There was that red flag again. Why was it waving furiously in my mind? That’s simple:

Kelly was telling me how she needed her boyfriend in order to feel like she was ‘on track’.

It’s something I hear and see over and over again when I’m working; most people think that being in a state of profound satisfaction and wellness – what I call their Default state – is driven by their environment. In other words, they associate the times when they’ve had these truly profound moments of being in the zone or the flow state with a particular person or song or place.

But the truth of the matter is, while a person or song or place may help trigger this kind of experience, the actual experience is happening in your body. And, like all states, it has a certain chemical, neural, muscular makeup. And that makeup is the same every time.

Everyone knows something about this already because their Default state is the way they are designed to be. When the structure of their body is organized in this way they feel like they’ve come home. Why? Because they have. They’ve come home to the way of being that is most natural, most powerful, and most present. And because of this, when they’re in the Default they are here, in this moment, right now.

Though most people have forgotten this natural way of being, I have spent a lifetime learning how to help them remember – not in their mind, in their body. That’s what my sessions with private clients are like, and that’s what Installing Inner Game is designed to do – to help familiarize you with how you are in your Default.

In the following video you’ll get a sense of how this works live and in-person as I elicit the Default with the wonderful and charming Jean.

Check it out:

So what about you? What do you notice about yourself when you’re in your Default?

Wow, thanks that was really powerful for me to watch…….as I was watching I had a very clear distinct memory from many years ago..I lived in the mountains beside a beautiful lake and most mornings walked the beach with my dog…….I distinctly remember how it felt to be in my body then…how aware I was of my body and how good it felt just to be.
Just revisiting that memory recreates that feeling…..and brings tears to my eyes.
Many blessings to you and all that you do.

Thanks Tracy.

Working one-on-one with people has been the great joy of my life for a long time. And the experience you had – perfect. Right on. Remembering that experience in your body is exactly the point of all the work I do.

When you listen to IIG and hear me asking the questions about how you are in your Default – THAT’s the experience I’m talking about. Learn to do that easily and at will and you will have gotten everything I could have hoped for from IIG and this video.

I’m so glad to have helped you remember that feeling again in your body.

Humbled and grateful for your time and comment,

~Devon

yes, today I experimented with listening in the middle of the day while very awake. i listened to the individual tracks…..and took time in between to “process” what was being said. i even journaled about wanting and being..and also remembered that bodily-felt sensation of being at peace…like how I felt when i was on the coast in Costa Rica…a deep sense of letting things be, and also trusting that my instincts will guide me…that wanting is an important part of instinct itself. it is how it speaks to us~!
Than you for this awsome insight.
It took me 2 hours this afternoon,, to do only 6 tracks. i have found the place I always fall asleep.
Great stuff……thanks beyond thanks,

Hi Devon – I have now listened twice through the “install” and find the experience – the music, the different sounds, the male and female voices, the change in tone and loudness and in speed – very powerful. I especially appreciate your focus on taking the experience to the body. This is taking me a bit to recognize within myself, however your video with Jean was helpful. How often should one do this “install” and does it matter if I fall asleep during parts of it? Also I am curious about your use of “computer” language such as “install” and “default”…
I would like a shorter version and am unable to fast forward through the 15 min. intro on my iPod, so play the audio for about 15 min. before I plug into it. I too meditate – mindfulness meditation which I continue to do with focus on the breath. Your practice does take me to a different experiential level. One more thing: after the first listening, I had a busy morning rushing about and was about to sit down to eat my lunch with co-workers when I just found myself sitting back, taking a deep breath, relaxing my shoulders down and then making the decision to pack up my lunch and eat it after I had the opportunity to let go of the chaos of the morning. I went for a walk with a friend and ate in a much more relaxed state. Is that an example of going to my default state?
Thank you for sharing this very important work.

Hi Deb,

Lots to address in your comment so let me get right to it:

First off – I’m glad the experience is powerful for you.
With regard to taking the experience to the body, that’s exactly where it’s most powerful. So I’m glad you’re taking the time to explore it and that you found the video of me working with Jean to be helpful.

re: Frequency – there’s no set frequency that we know to be best. In truth we’re still exploring this. And we’re also working to make version 1.2 shorter so that you can increase the frequency without spending an hour doing so. My recommendation is to listen to the part where I’m asking you what you notice in sequence regularly. Then listen to the more trancey pieces every so often. Really, the best frequency is the one that feels best to you. The easiest way to do this and to skip the intro is to email me for the ‘tracked’ version of IIG. you can email me at devon (at) installinginnergame (dot) com

Regarding your walk with your friend – without actually being there to track what was happening I can’t say for sure that it was your Default but that’s definitely the direction of your Default. Letting go of ‘doing’ anything and instead just ‘Being’ is what the Default is.

The real check is:

a. did you feel that anything was possible?
b. did you have a deep sense of satisfaction?
c. was there a readiness for whatever might arise next and the trust and knowledge that, like this, you would respond perfectly?

Thanks for your comment and I hope my response helps.

All my best regards,

~Devon

Hi Deb,
You wrote the following above: I would like a shorter version and am unable to fast forward through the 15 min. intro on my iPod, so play the audio for about 15 min. before I plug into it.
FYI:
In Itunes, right click the program you are playing (in this case Installing Inner Game) click ‘Get Info’ then ‘Options’ There is a place to enter Start Time and/or Stop Time. So if you want to skip the intro just enter 15:00 in Start Time and next time you Sinc your ipod it will know to skip the intro next time you play it.
I’m enjoying the process and the results from installing inner game and heading toward the default state as well.

Hi Devon,
I am loving Installing the Inner Game, and am listening to it daily. I also love the “loading” symbol and use it every time (in my amagination) I want to re-set to Default. I keep wishing I had a tattoo on the back of my left hand so I could instantly trigger the response by simply glancing at my hand…..so much quicker than fishing around in my wallet/purse for the hard copy.
Your work – and Keila’s – is cutting edge technology. Thankyou so much for bringing it into our world. Brilliant!

Robin! – I love it.

Thanks for your comment. And I’m so glad you like the symbol. There’s a lot to that symbol and I’ll be explaining more as we go. For now I’ll just tell you one of my favorite facts about it which is this – one of my more dedicated students got it tattooed on his forearm. It is quite righteous if i do say so myself. And as meaningful as it gets.

That same guy, as well as a bunch of people that were in that particular program I was running, put it as their iPhone wallpaper and a couple made the Default sound the sound their phone made for incoming texts (though it doesn’t sound so great on tiny, tinny speakers).

Thanks so much for your thoughts and encouragement.

Brilliant right back at you!

Thank you. Bunny

I’d love to help but I’m not sure what video program you’re referring to. Installing Inner Game is an audio program. Is that what you’re talking about Bunny? The only videos are the Jean video (above) and the first video on this blog welcoming people here.

Let me know,

getting my Self and body fully engaged has always seemed like searching for the holy grail, wanting with all our being to take colossal dancing strides with the body, to give huge love away to one and all, to do any number of things that seem to be just too much/too big for this world – feeling like a large Being confined in a small space…got encouragement on how Inner Game can assist us to align with better-feeling engagements?

Hi Carol,

When you’re in your Default your body is fully engaged. As I used to say to a few of my students – you won’t feel your muscles, you’ll feel AS your muscles.

As for ‘encouragement on how Inner Game can assist us to align with better-feeling engagements’ – I’m not sure what you mean. If you clarify I’ll be happy to respond.

Thank you, Devon for reawakening me. I’ve just listened “Installiner Game. It’s been awhile since I have felt this energized and aware. It is the most wonderful sensation—total bliss. Thirty years ago, I studied acting with a young, vibrant teacher who employed many “experimental” acting techniques. He taught us how to connect with our body to elicit true emotion and therfore, truth in the acting moment. In these moments, the cast was “One”. I love how it all begins with breath. Every working day, I take a beautiful path through the woods to the river, where I hug”my ” tree. As soon as I lean into the tree and take a breath, I feel I’m home, protected safe, and grateful. I sing this song:
From the mighty flowing rive,
From the heart of dear Giver,
Comes the gift of beauty
And the happines that can be!
Blow the pipe and strike the drum,
Telling everyone to come!
Come and sing and dance and play
To celebrate this glorious day!

I am feel so blessed to work near the river.
I feel blessed meeting you.

Cyn – the blessing is equally mine.

I’m so happy you resonated with IIG. Some significant portions of this work is actually drawn from Stanislovky’s work so I am no stranger to experimental acting techniques – though his are no longer experimental by any means.

Hi Devon,

I’m not much familiaar with the things you mention about XHTML, so I’ll just write –

Thank you veery much for sharing this and for making it available in the way that you have.

I have been doing meditation and subliminal progtramming and “working” on myself to rid myself of the barriers to self-expression and to enhance my ability to just “be” for some time now.

I have been through the install once so far, and enjoyed it a lot. I think that as I work more with it, I will become more clear as to my own methods of entering the “default” state, with which I am familiar, but definitely do not live in all the time. I work with other things that impact this area in other ways, and am learning all the time. I look forward to working with this program over time, and to participating on this blog also, when I can. It’s a life-long process!

Thank you for doing this, and for sharing in the way you have.

I especially enjoyed the video with Jean, too, and have gained some distinctions from it, as well.

Hi Devon,

This is working! ( I am working, my body is working… while not working.. !) Thanks for developing this adventure.

A question (inspired by the listening to the two heartbeats, from mother and child, and being a mother myself):

Why do you think there is so much pain involved when giving birth? Is it because as a mother your body has to seperate from your child? You have to ‘push’ your child out of your body (cause for the baby it’s really nice being in there?!).
And (not that I am consciously aware of it now!) it must have been very painful to go through this birth channel yourself..
My daugther is learning Darwin’s evolution theory now and I wonder why this, for all animals, still is a ‘difficult’ job (although your body does not find it difficult.. it’s the most natural thing I ever did!). Is it that pain has a function? And that we, as human beings, are always trying to avoid that (and only ‘go for’ pleasure?)

I have many beautiful experiences when listening to Installing InnerGame, (and also when I am not listening to it) but at the moment I don’t feel like writing about it (although I am a writer) as it then becomes so ‘cognitive’ and analysed. It’s almost impossible to put it into words.

Hi Devon.
I haven´t yet listened to the audio, cause I don´t understand, why you are using the word “default” for a good state of being. I read the above intro to the video and watched the ecxellent video, but it doesn´t make sense to me, to install “default” in my system. I understand that we are customed to work from a default state, but when making us aware of how we feel in the body when feeling good, why still call it “default”? And why calling it default when installing a new good program?
Doesn´t that hamper with our subconscious mind, to tell it: This is still default mode?
I am aware that no one but me creates my happiness, so no need to get into that.
Maybe this is a language problem, I am from Denmark, but I don´t wanna mess with my precious mind, so I would like to get clear on the use of the word “default”.

Thank you for your time and sharing your knowledge.

Hi Sanne,

The reason I use the word Default is because the work we’re doing with Installing Inner Game is helping you get back to the way you were born to be.

As I say on another of my websites:

‘You were born perfect, metaphorically drop shipped from the factory with a flawless human operating system, just like a brand new computer. But we live in a culture that simply does not understand how to grow a healthy, happy, well-functioning human, which is why our parents, our schools, and our media have unintentionally riddled our Human Operating Systems with behavioral viruses. The evidence of this is that the majority of us are stuck in some sort of discontent. And it’s almost impossible to recognize because nearly everyone is.’

So, the thing that Installing Inner Game is doing is helping to reset the system to the way you were before there was any interruption in the perfection of you. It’s helping to reset you to your ‘Default’ settings.

Installing Inner Game and all of the work I do is based on the work of Joseph Riggio and his mentor Roye Frasier. Roye’s original model was called the Generative Imprint. That model suggested that every person was born with a perfect blueprint for who and how they were supposed to be. Following that, if you are aligned with that imprint you will be in a state of satisfaction and readiness.

Unfortunately, since most people in our world still have no clue as to how to raise well-formed, happy humans most of us get signals that interrupt the expression of that perfection. We get behavioral viruses that are misaligned from that original blueprint.

What Installing Inner Game does is to reset you to the way you were before the viruses – back to the blueprint and experience of that original perfection.

While most ‘change technologies’ address epistemology (the way people KNOW who they are) my work is addressing ontology (how you ARE). This is a level deeper in terms of its effects and power. So the ‘installation’ is also an elicitation…of how you were born to be.

This is why I call it your Default.

Hope that helps.

All my best,

Devon

Hi Devon
Thank you so much for IIG just wanted to ask you this.. straight away I felt happier .. found myself singing ( yay havent done that for years!!) and generally more bouyant and happy… then after about the third day I crashed .. my body has had a weird disease for the last 6months and that flared up and I couldnt abort the depression that flooded in with it … Please can you tell me if that is a common part of the process or have I tried to use the tape too much or not enough or just need to be more disciplined .. or .. what ???
I am still using IIG just once a day … but feel a bit wobbly : ) if you know what I mean. would really appreciate your feedback and thanks again for what you are doing . Sue

Hi Devon
is this it… one has to just keep going .. building the real BEing and then gradually the power of the down doesnt hold one so , doesnt have the power because eventually it will become so 2nd nature to revert to default.. whereas at the moment its still easy to be distracted and pulled into the old patterns. so to build to recognise to live in default , is the way out of the old negativity.
this is it isnt it??
so keeping on keeping on with wiping the misguided programme and installing the reality is actually the only way to Be isnt it ???
thanks again Sue

Namaste Devon and thank you for making your knowledge available. After my first listening experience (during which I was very judgmental) I listened again, then found my aha moment and over the last week of continued listening I have been mindful of relaxing into my default. Yesterday I experienced only what I can describe as a crash of the emotions, I felt flat and after almost a week of the wonderful successful feeling I felt let down. On discovering the Jean video I went back to your tape and took the time to allow my mind and body to find its memory – So VERY successful – so very comfortable – so very me. Is it right to say I feel fully charged?
with grateful thanks, beth.

Although you say your work is based on the imprint generative work of Joseph Riggio and his mentor Roye Frasier, can you confirm to me that the tonal and repetitious sounds and words of ILG are not using hypnotherapy in transmitting this work? I would like an answer to this although at the same time I would like to confirm that I woke up with the most stupendous information about the emotional condition I was born into as well as the emotional conditions other genertions of my family and even an in-law was born into. I also had an overwhelming understanding of the healing importance of family to individuals.individuals

Hi Katharine,

For me hypnosis means speaking in a way that allows people, if they choose to do so, to follow instructions easily.

It also creates a space that allows the listener to make their own meanings of what is being said rather than forcing my meanings on you. In the world of hypnosis this is called being ‘artfully vague’.

While alive, Roye was a master hypnotist. Joseph, still alive, is a master to this day. As for me, hypnosis has always been something that captivated me. It’s held my fascination since the first day I read a book on NLP in 1995.

Installing Inner Game uses both direct and conversational hypnosis to achieve the results you experience.

And as for those results – i love yours! They were great to read and I’m thrilled you’re getting something so useful from it.

Thanks for letting me know.

All my best,

Devon

Want to share, that i downloaded this when it first came to my email.
I listened to it and really did not get it but felt it if that makes any since. I been telling myself to listen to it , but put restriction on myself as to i had to be still I had to be focused and much more, saying to myself i will listen, What happen was this I was playing a on line game gin actually, and all of a sudden itunes started playing this audio. the first sound just startled me, well I continued my game and listened to it. This time understanding more of the language. Than after it was over and i stopped my game as I had things to do, I was very aware of how light and balanced I felt. I have been very stressed out with caring for someone who is sick and very negative and trying to get to a place to not absorb it. When i went to visit her I was just being their and it was very pleasant visit. It was not till I got home that I realized I had listen to the audio. it is a place that when i am there It is just grand. and always waiting for it to come back. So I am 62 and i AM hoping this is something that will help be be there often as now it seems there is a way to get to that great feeling, so that is my share thanks Linda

I do like the program, feeling it deeply.

One comment: instead of saying that the default is ‘locked in’, why not use non-confining words, like, the default is confirmed, or, the default is abolutely in place.

Devon,
Wow–some thoughts for you as I’ve been listening to the IIG. I’m maybe 4 or 5 listens in. Right away, I found it expansive, albeit a tad wobbly, which you explained in one of your blots, but the thing I’m most inquisitive about it the way I’m starting to yearn to listen to it. It’s like my body kind of craves it. Which I suppose isn’t surprising if it helps me access a lovely inner state. But also, one day when I didn’t listen to it, I had a terrible nightmare–I don’t remember the content but my partner told me I woke him up. I notice I want it and am nervous about it all at the same time. And, can I listen to it while I do other things?

Comments?

this was my second time listening to IIG. During the first session, I was blown away with feelings running up and down and over and under my body…what a treat and I love the ‘default’ and looking within for sure works for me.
Today’s session was less body cessation and I fell asleep, I think, haha
I am excited about listening again.

Hello,
The second time I listened to IIG, I fell asleep. When i woke, The program had stopped and I felt an intense vibration. It felt as if entities were being pulled off of me. i also experienced a state of anxiety and paranoia. I felt as thou I was a vibrating cocoon. I fell asleep and woke well rested and in a state of joy the next morning. I went through the day in a state of peace. Listened again last night and today had a new joy and peace about it. I look forward to continuing to work with this program and evolve. MANY THANKS FOR THE WORK YOU ARE DOING!!

Wow! I was rocked to my core with the sounds emanating from this installment. So much so that before I listened I was a little constipated and after the session I had a soft stool release. So I know it did something to me emotionally, physically and mentally. I am a Feldenkrais® Practitioner and Awareness Through Movement® Teacher. Through Moshe Feldenkrais’s lessons we may in one class take 45 minutes to move and become aware of every little movement and its’ shadow movement just to turn our head. So this work you are doing resonates with it, you come from another sense, the sensation of hearing to impart awareness to the participant. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a seeker. It is so profound that it may frighten a person who has no desire to go deep, that person who wants to live on the surface and disregard the yearnings of their soul. I am talking about a person who knows he has had trauma in his life and does not want to disturb it, so that he can live in superficial peace with it.
I applaud your efforts to impart this wisdom, technology and love.

Devon,

I am enjoying installing Innergame, but have not been able to do an entire sequence because of the length, so a shorter version would be great.

I’ve been going through some stressful times these past few years and hold lots of tension in my neck, shoulders and lower back. I have been on a spiritual path from for a while, meditate, do yoga and reiki regularly, and am able to access my default at will in quieter times when I am taking time to myself. I often do this when I am eating somewhere, it is like I relax and the entire scene around me just opens up and I am connected with everything. When I am doing Reiki it feels like joy is just passing through me and I am in a deep state of connection.

The challenge I am having is when I am in stressful situations my breath becomes shallow, my brow, neck, shoulders and pelvis tense up, these areas, along with my knees have given me problems for year (over 10). At times I am able to relax and return to a state of harmony, but most of the time, especially if I am busy, I am not able to relax or take a full breath, in fact it is like my diaphragm has become heavy and frozen and I am fighting for a good breath.

Any suggestions? I am also having a hard time identifying what my body is like in my default state. If I had to describe it, it is simply relaxed and my breath is natural and rhythmic and there is an absence of tension. Also, it is easy for me to feel the energy flowing through my body and focus at Dan Tian (Chinese Pin Yin spelling, I lived there for 8 years)..

Awesome work.. Thanks so much.. I am looking forward to reaping this benefits and sharing this with others.

Hi George,

First off, with regard to doing the whole install in one sitting – feel free to split it up. Ken sent out a tracked version of it; use that. You can listen to your favorite tracks, skip some, move around – enjoy yourself.

In terms of being able to be in your Default while you’re in stressful situations, in addition to listening to IIG, that takes a decision and a firm commitment to implement that decision.

The decision you want to make is to bring the feeling you have when you’re taking time to yourself (eating somewhere, etc.) and bring it to the stressful places in your life. Now the reason I say it takes a firm commitment is because you have to be willing to stop what you’re doing when you notice you’re ‘off’ and take some time for yourself right then and there.

You need to interrupt the old habits and wire in new ones. Pick one area of your life first and commit to bringing peace and relaxation to that area of your life. Then track your progress.

I would be surprised if you were able to do it the first few times. Heck – you may not even notice that you’re tense the first few times. But I would be equally surprised if by the tenth time you hadn’t started to actually feel some of the relaxation creeping in around the edges of your awareness and into your muscles. Once a week (or once a day depending on how committed you are) check in with your progress. Notice where you’re succeeding and where you’re not. Then add new ways to improve your results.

As for describing what you’re like in your Default state – the most important thing is to be able to be in it – not to describe it. your description above seems a good starting point. If you want to get more specific and well-versed in it just be open to it. No need for pressure. Just set a general intention that you’re going to be learning more and more about yourself in your Default and then let it come. I’ve been doing this for nearly two decades and I still get new information on it. The trick is not to try. Just set your intention and Allow.

Best,

Devon

Hi Devon, I’m new to Inner Game, with gratitude! I’m having a few problems with falling asleep during the program,(even when I sit up) but other than that I’m game and interested in getting better acquainted with my default. However, I have some physical challenges from AS, (Ankylosing Spondylitis) that have locked up my body in various ways, although there is still some small amount of movement I can get from the pelvis, up my spine and into my neck. Despite this, I’m fairly functional , but I’m wondering how this might affect my ability to access my default physically, at least the one I probably accessed a lot in the past. Would this be something I would then try to imagine rather than find in the way I move? Interesting that many years of pain, (much better now) led me to not want to feel my body, it’s been some doing to get myself more comfortable with it. I’m sure that’s an amplification of the way many of us are not so comfortable in our bodies and hang out above the neck. In fact, bodywork and movement therapies have helped me get out of my head a bit more. So again, have you had any clients or run into anyone who has a challenge accessing their default because they aren’t able to do themselves in that way they once did? I’m assuming I can get around this somehow, but would like to hear if you have any suggestions or experience. Thanks for your awesome effort on so many people’s behalf. I wish you incredible success and satisfaction!

Hi Jeni,

Thanks for writing. While being able to move certain muscles is one of the ways I help people access and establish their Default – it’s just one. You can certainly do it without movement. Because the Default position is wired in from conception onward it existed before any of the musculature was actually in place.

When I write the word cat – you think of a cat. It doesn’t matter if there’s a cat near you or not. Now if I say, pulling my hand against the cat’s soft bristly fur sent a tingle up my arm, you’ll have a deeper experience of the cat. What I’m doing is simply using words to direct attention. In this case I’m directing your attention to the feeling of this particular cat. When you read the words, your mind makes meaning of it and represents that meaning in whatever ways it can.

One of the things that research has demonstrated is that practicing things in imagination actually leads to the development of the motor skills necessary to accomplish those same tasks. Three-point shots in basketball for example.

The same thing is true of the Default. You don’t need to be able to move the way you did when you were 12 in order to be able to experience it. Heck, if you follow my logic, the perfection was there when you were a zygote with no muscles at all. So the key is to put your attention on this idea…this state called the Default…and then allow yourself to have the experience associated with it. Allow yourself to have the experience in whatever ways you can to start – and then be fascinated by it…find out where it takes you.

Just like the cat, if you put your attention there for long enough (and often enough) there are lots of things you’ll be able to remember about it. And a lot of those memories will begin to stir particular feelings in your body.

In fact, I’d go as far as to suggest that learning to simmer in that kind of awareness for long periods of time may even begin to allow a cooling and shrinking of some of the inflammation.

Theresa, a Feldenkrais practitioner, is talking about this kind of attention in a comment above when she says that sometimes she will ‘take 45 minutes to move and become aware of every little movement and its’ shadow movement just to turn (her) head’.

I’ve seen clients with little to no movement capacity access and stabilize their Default. In fact, because of the limitation of their movement they weren’t distracted by larger movements and began with awareness of the deep access points that it takes most people many years to discover.

Let me know how it goes.

All my best,

Devon

Hey Devon, I was really hoping you would answer in just the way you did. Putting me right into my Default! Hey, that means it’s working! I have a lot of interest in the potential for re-creating myself back to my original blueprint, emotionally and physically in particular. I have worked with Feldenkrais and was heartened to read the post by the Feldenkrais practitioner. I work with two bodyworkers now that help me maintain and gain some movement, one who does Aston Patterning and another who does strictly energy work. I do believe that for various reasons I’ve been so mis-aligned with anything but the default, that parts of my body don’t even recognize ‘me’ and auto-immune issues sort of scream out that fact, because this type of dis-ease attacks me as if my body was made up of foreign cells or bacteria or viruses. These realizations have come slowly over time as I have a strong sense of knowing that I can heal this, but have found the road there is a long and winding one with still much to learn. Therefore, your work is VERY IMPORTANT to me and I’ve been upping my frequency of IIG. Now today, I’ve got the wobblies as mentioned in other posts, but I’ll keep it up and let you know how things progress. Your blog posts are really helpful, they provide some much needed support and encouragement, so thank you so much. All my best to you too. I guess that means more of my default, my inner core. Nice, I feel it coming over me even as I type this! And my wobblies are fading too. Awesome.

I love hearing your progress Jeni. Thanks for the update. And the wobblies should fade, replaced by a deep sense of health, wellness and purpose. On your way there the most important thing is just to enjoy the ride – the ups and the downs.

And yes, I am wishing you more of your Default :)
I find that the more you’re there, there deeper and more pleasurable it is AND the less there is to want because you’re already living inside of Have.

Enjoy the adventure!

Hi Devon,
last night i finally got round to playing Inner Game as finding 70 mins.at a stretch was difficult. I have been looking for ways and means to improve myself physically, emotionally, creatively and spiritually and have been deeply interested in hypnosis, meditation techniques etc. but have never succeeded in reaching that perfect elusive state of joy and happiness.
I am really hoping that your way finds me myself and helps in improving my relationships. unfortunately –i’m not sure why -but about 50-55 minutes thru the audio my shoulders,my wrist and ankle joints began to hurt and my whole body disturbed me so much that i had to come out of my alpha state and change posture and twist around thus disturbing my entire state of relaxation. Is that normal or have i failed again to let my body flow? Everytime i have tried a session of hypnosis regression i start hurting within the hour and am unable to focus on anything else and have to come out of the trance dissatisfied.Hope you can help me.I’m 54

Hi Pinki,

I think the answer in this case is the ever elusive obvious. If your body starts to hurt – shift positions. Hypnosis is not designed to be torturous. On the contrary – it should feel good!

And if 72 is too long, use the tracked version and split it up. No need to listen to the entire thing all at once if that’s not what works for you.

Major point of IIG – pay attention to your body signals. Don’t read into them too much. If you hurt, shift positions. If you’re bored, do something else.

Cheers,
Devon

Hi Devon,

I have been using IG for several weeks now and love the way I feel when I do it, and on the occasions that I am able to reproduce it during the day. I too am able to notice my jaw being tight, or my eyes tightened and consciously relaxing them, etc.

However, I was wishing that you had responded to Sue above (March 15), as I am experiencing a similar thing. After a few weeks of using IIG almost daily, all of a sudden my anxiety levels went through the roof. I have struggled with this for many years and have been doing better and better, and it is discouraging to have it recur like this. Unfortunately, it comes on literally as soon as I awake, before I am even up, I can literally feel the chemical “dump” into my body as I am just emerging from sleep. So then I awake in an already agitated state, at which point it is extremely difficult to access the default. I have been actively “making the choice” as you said above, and taking time out several times a day to reset, but once the chemical trigger is activated, I cannot seem to stay in the default once I come out of the focused state of accessing it. I am familiar with “healing crises”, where the problem seems to get worse for a while after a healing. Is this the case here? Can you make any suggestions for this situation?

Thank you again for this amazing work and making it available in such a generous way. I am sooooooo grateful for this wonderful tool.
