Here’s the summary: The most important thing is for you to begin tracking for the most exquisite form of you that you know, learning how you do yourself when you’re like that, and doing that all the time. That’s your Default. Establish it as powerfully as you can. Do it often and do it for longer and longer periods of time. Once you’re really good at it – begin rewriting your history in a way that brings your newly acquired state to your entire life, past and present.

Here’s Andria’s comment in full:

Hi Devon!
I have more sporting news for you…Lately, it’s been all about the eyes for me. I realized that when I ski and mtb, I have predatory eyes, which are tight and focused. They help me cut though a crowd of skiers with precision (without scaring or cutting anyone off, of course). And when I mtb, I’m the mountain lion, locked onto her prey.

The other day, I had a gorgeous experience skiing. I was up high in the bowls, in and out of the trees, and away from the crowds, just taking in the big view I get with soft eyes. But, when I got down to mid-mountain, I suddenly felt disoriented. It appeared as if people were coming from every which way, I was unable to judge speed and direction, and my spatial awareness was shot. It was a trip, because I knew why it was happening, but I just stayed defaulted instead of tensing up about it, and laughed.

The weather was warmer the next day. I’m on my bike, on a snow packed single track that I navigate every spring to get to my house. The consistency of the snow is like a sno-cone, very thick and slippery, and if you fall off, you go sliding down the hill. Anyway, in my mind I hear you say, ‘Allow your eyes to go soft.’ Whoa. My whole body relaxed, I felt very lightweight, and my muscles actually reacted quicker than when they were tense. It was a feeling of being on balance, rather than constantly correcting imbalance.
What are some of your body-in-motion experiences?

Cheers and thanks again!

For you text lovers, here’s the summary:

- Experience happens in your body. Afterward you put semantic ‘frames’ around that experience. In other words you describe the experience. The way we describe our experiences shape them for us.
- Your body, brain, mind and words are all part of one looped system. What happens in one affects the whole.
- Being in your Default means being at rest in a state of possibility and readiness. There are many ways to establish it, but setting the Default as the position you “default” to and learning to prefer it over all others is what matters most.

* When in doubt tell yourself, “This is perfect”. You always want to be giving the system of you the message that it’s perfect. The ‘this is perfect’ program has powerful positive benefits.
* If you don’t know how you ‘do’ your Default, simply open it up as an ongoing a question. Then pay attention to your body. It may take a couple weeks before you get your answers but sure enough – they’ll come.
* Let go, enjoy yourself, and don’t be attached to getting results. If you put your attention on knowing the way you feel, hear, see, smell, taste, touch…when you’re in your Default – you’ll find the answers sooner than you think.

There is a blueprint swirled into your DNA of who you were born to be and who you have the potential to become. When you are in alignment with this perfection it is unmistakeable – these are the moments that you feel like everything is as it should be in the world.

We’ve all had these moments. For most people these are the kinds experiences they yearn to have all the time. But what if…instead of yearning, all you needed to do was simply begin to prefer yourself…like this.

In fact, that’s exactly how it works. And the more you prefer being in your Default, the better you get at it.

Check out today’s video and find out how:

Why was it waving furiously in my mind? That’s simple:

Kelly was telling me how she needed her boyfriend in order to feel like she was ‘on track’.

It’s something I hear and see over and over again when I’m working; most people think that being in a state of profound satisfaction and wellness – what I call their Default state – is driven by their environment. In other words, they associate the times when they’ve had these truly profound moments of being in the zone or the flow state with a particular person or song or place.

But the truth of the matter is, while a person or song or place may help trigger this kind of experience, the actual experience is happening in your body. And, like all states, it has a certain chemical, neural, muscular makeup. And that makeup is the same every time.

Everyone knows something about this already because their Default state is the way they are designed to be. When the structure of their body is organized in this way they feel like they’ve come home. Why? Because they have. They’ve come home to the way of being that is most natural, most powerful, and most present. And because of this, when they’re in the Default they are here, in this moment, right now.

Though most people have forgotten this natural way of being, I have spent a lifetime learning how to help them remember – not in their mind, in their body. That’s what my sessions with private clients are like, and that’s what Installing Inner Game is designed to do – to help familiarize you with how you are in your Default.

In the following video you’ll get a sense of how this works live and in-person as I elicit the Default with the wonderful and charming Jean.

Check it out:

So what about you? What do you notice about yourself when you’re in your Default?
