Todays’ post is in response to a stream of emails about discovering the specifics of your Default. Here’s a summary of the video for those folks too busy for online movies:
* When in doubt tell yourself, “This is perfect”. You always want to be giving the system of you the message that it’s perfect. The ‘this is perfect’ program has powerful positive benefits.
* If you don’t know how you ‘do’ your Default, simply open it up as an ongoing a question. Then pay attention to your body. It may take a couple weeks before you get your answers but sure enough – they’ll come.
* Let go, enjoy yourself, and don’t be attached to getting results. If you put your attention on knowing the way you feel, hear, see, smell, taste, touch…when you’re in your Default – you’ll find the answers sooner than you think.

A cognitively/overly rational oriented…biased adult would say I need to know how and if I don’t know it’s not Mastery.
A child would be fascinated, present to the subtle shifts in the body, energy, emotions, sounds, etc.
A deep learner would follow the above and be fascinated, feeling, presuming that it’s wonderful and play, play, play, enjoy, have fun and so much deep learning is happening and therefore deep living and experience.

T – fascination is really what it’s all about. Feldenkrais used to reprimand his students for doing their somatics routines as exercise rather than exploration. Always with fascination!

I am an “oldie goldie” in this work and LOVE Inner Game and the concept of ‘default’. Very powerful. What do you think about sharing this info with my 10 yr. old? He is an expanded little person that has a good grasp of energy and who he is in life. i have listened completely twice and incompletely up to 45 min several times. Where do you recommend starting the session if i have 45 minutes total? In deep respect for your work, I am tonight going to play it before i sleep. I’ve been teaching my little boy this stuff since he was in utero. The important thing is to teach to him in age appropriate ways. Most people talk to their kids as though their children are little adults – which they aren’t.
For example, from about ages 3 to 7, kids are developing their emotional range and depth, their imagination and parts of their memory. They are NOT developing cognitive reasoning, logic and the like. And yet, most parents talk to their four year olds as though they’re in high school.

As for the Default – with my little boy, Miles, I talk about having balance and coming back to center. And I put a lot of attention on him being aware of his body and obeying his instincts. One of the most important things to do is create a really powerful mythology about who he is. Our stories are essential. Here’s a blog where I documented portions of Miles’ early life.

As far as 45 minutes – I would get the individual tracks and use your favorites. I recommend starting about 15 minutes in when I’m doing the elicitation – the part where I’m asking you to notice what you notice when you’re in the Default.

I HAVE to tell you! I actually put something about kids as my response to the survey. I would love a version I could share with my kids, or even the guidance you’re offering in this replay (above) as to how to incorporate this concept into the way we parent, so that our children know this from the start and don’t have to re-learn their default in later years….I could go on for hours on my kids behavior and emotions and what we’re already doing and what we could do differently. Looking forward to whatever comes next.

It’s not designed to do that at all so if you continue to have an abreaction to it with no net gain – I’d stop.

I too had this experience on my first two listens…worse, anxiety attacks. But I have overcome it and have seen tremendous improvement in my life overall….what helped me was reading the manual thoroughly, and studying the blogs daily….I also spent time every day just thinking about what it meant to be in my default. Trying to find moments or remember moments where I felt everything was perfect….One day, it all just settled into place, took meaning, and with the “This is Perfect” mantra, everything is coming together and moving along.

I’m curious to know what is going on in the background of Inner Game and what kind of subliminal information is submitted, if any?
I’m curious if you have heard of Network Spinal Analysis? This is a spinal care I practice where we entrain the brain and spinal system to (in your language) the “default” state. We language it as entraining the brain to come out of defense and into a state of ease and growth. We actually help people to experience Discover, Transform, and Awaken states of Consciousness in the body as we install specific spinal strategies for the brain to dissipate spinal tension to open the nervous system.
It’s interesting to me that we have vehicles for somatic transformation into the default state, but you are accessing a state change thru the mental facilities–and how is that working exactly? I love it, I love it, I love it…what we have the ability to do, open and channel as humans on this planet today! Would love your feedback!

Devon, thank you so much for this helpful explanation. You answered exactly the question I would have written if I’d made the time. I listened for the 3rd or 4th time last night, and once again, could not answer those questions, but I was so blissfully relaxed, it didn’t matter to me, and I figured exactly what you said, it will come in time, just be open.
I have to say that I have been loving IIG, even if for no other reason than the technical, and musical, and script artistry. I’d listen more often if it wasn’t so long. I use an MP3 player, and I don’t believe it has a fast forward function, so unless I use software to cut the fun intro out, I have to have time to listen to it all. That would be my only suggestion. Provide the program in tracks as well as complete.
Now, I wish I could convince my 30-something sons to check this out, but as far as I can tell, they have utterly ignored both of the emails I’ve sent them raving about the program and imploring them to at least watch your videos. Alas, I think they must imagine its just another one of those weird things their mom is into, and it’ll pass. Well, I don’t think so, and I certainly hope not, because I find it very exciting. I’m participating in many forms of teaching right now so I can’t credit it all to IIG, but I am going through positive changes and looking forward to “a life worth living”.

Thank you for this program…the second time I listened to it, I saw an image that was gently moving, as though reflected in water, watery image is how I would describe it….then I started noticing images coming to me through my pineal gland area, they were like cartoons, with images inside a box and they kept floating in to my inner vision, then many other images with glyphs and symbols passed through my inner vision…the key here for me is the ‘Inner Vision’ as I had never before experienced my third eye being open in this way…by the fourth time listening, when I closed my eyes at any time of the day, I perceived a swirling vortex about a foot or so in front of my eyes and I realized that was my clairvoyant ability opening…then I thought, O.K., there are all these images floating through…what more can I do with this? So I experimented, I said, “Find W…..” (my husband who was away listening to a guest speaker who was in our area), I immediately saw an negative image (like in the negative of a photo) of a figure coming to a vehicle and opening the door and another figure in the background walking toward the vehicle…that was it…but 20 minutes later, he came home…so I must have tuned in….the sad part to me is that all of it since then has gone and now when I listen there is nothing that comes through…..I was sooooo excited about this ability breaking through and feel great disappointment that it was so fleeting….

If that ability began opening for you – that was exactly what IIG was meant to do. Now the next steps are to begin putting your attention of what you’re like when you’re having those abilities.
That’s what IIG is all about – becoming aware of the full form of your awareness when you’re in states you like. So rather than awaiting the states’ unfolding you have to give yourself as a student to the state and the abilities.
IIG will open you to new things when you listen to it. Sometimes it will be a tool that will be useful for the entire journey. Other times it will act as the catalyst and you’ll have to do the heavy lifting. Still other times it will help you break through blocks.
The exciting part is feeling your abilities and consciousness evolving. Now just set your intention to allowing and deepening that evolution.

You blew me away when you addressed me personally and then used the whole blog to answer my question. I have listened to the blog four times now and the first time I was quite freaked out that you were talking to me, I even posted it on my Facebook page, LOL . The explanation that you give is very good and it has taken the pressure off me and I keep thinking in my days now, “This is perfect”
By really noticing my question you have helped me in ways you didn’t intend. I generally play myself down quite a bit and by addressing me it has percolated into mind that I can make meaningful contributions to the world and it has boosted my self esteem. Upon reading the blogs I can see that it wasn’t a silly question after all and I am tickled pink that I could help to help all these people indirectly. It empowers me more so thank you so much Devon for being who you are and for making my question feel so valid. I was interested to hear in Dr. Mel’s post the description of what’s happening with network chiropractic, an incredibly deep and effective practice – we approach Reiki that way too, a healing modality recorded in Tibet and older than that as I’m sure you know – chanting Hare Krishna also shifts one to Default as a spiritual being, and slowly as a whole healthy human as well. It’s clearer now how the technology you’re developing is better situated in/aware of the body, and thereby particularly useful in these times for a more streamlined interface between what some of us know as Spirit and Matter.

Firstly to say I love IIG – I’ve been listening on my new Grado headphones and am picking up all the subtle nuances in the soundtracks. Great stuff…..!
Secondly I am still a bit confused about the Nothing state – is nothing just when you’re relaxed (and sort of meditating like listening to IIG) or when watching TV or something. And how can nothing lead to something? And not doing anything?? How can you not do anything but still actually do something? Being in the world but not of it? Confusion……
OMG! This is it! This is the video I needed. Well, parts of it may have helped before I even listened to the audio or read the manual. But this exactly explains what just happened to me. It took a few weeks. I didn’t really get it, and I didn’t know I wasn’t getting it. Then one random day, not thinking about anything in particular but with the constant thought that I wanted to understand this, it just came to me. I had a glimmer. I still don’t completely understand what’s happening but I have an idea of what it means to be in my Default, and it’s a GREAT starting place.
Devon I am right if I say that the “default state” is a state of complete relaxation? It’s like always willing to be effortlessly relaxed and letting go of what is, feeling the entire body, and being in this state all the time?

Hi Devon, I listened to IIG for the first time last night before going to sleep, on my birthday (what a graceful present, thanx!) and I would like to share some of my experiences.
soothing and helping him to relax
I just sat back and relaxed and let the whole experience flow through me… at the blancs I felt the cold in my kidney area and the tense muscles in my neck and shoulders from years and years of what I had come to call my “put to sleep conscience of who I really am”. After drifting in and out a number of times I got conscious of the total relaxation of the whole neck and shoulder area and the glowing warmth of my kidney area. After that I was floating in total bodylessness or boundlessness the one moment, to shift in vast moments of feeling every cell of my body pulsing and radiating whatever it was radiating. Pure being, no thoughts any more… Amazing!
Now during the day that followed, the little voice over my shoulder started whispering: aren’t you afraid? do you really trust this guy and his IIG stuff? what if you’ve been hypnotised?
At first it scared me, after a while a started giggling, inviting the voice in a gentle yet decisive way to just frack off.
Your video above answered quite some ??? and I loved your humour at every so recognizable fact or experience.
Some consequences:
1* right before I woke up this morning I had my first lucid dream again after quite a while, getting lost in Paris and at the verge of panic I heard my self saying to me (in plain French!): just relaaax, Annie, don’t go running around like a crazy chook, but stay here on this very spot, show yourself openly, until the group realises they’ve lost you and comes looking for you. I woke up and felt thoroughly content and at peace (I will spare you the details of the previous wake ups from similar nightmares
2* my husband has been very stressed lately because of his new job, and today I almost effortlessly managed to stay inside my own energy (my be at my best
3* at a moment he got the better of me though, I got anxious, I wanted to shrink away, and he said something sooo new, soo nót old pattern (don’t remember what but that doesn’t matter), I shifted back into my wonderful me again, I cried and smiled, we hugged…

I first downloaded this last week, listen to it once and was just totally not getting it and my body was all over the place, BUT did realize I was aware very much of my body muscels so I told myself I will have to revisit it, which I did not, than the other day I was playing a online game (gin) and my ITUNE started playing, I was shocked at first and said oh well listen to it while you play this game,
There were certain parts of the muscic audio that went right threw me.
It was profound. any way finished listening to the whole thing and I had been very stressed and anxious as I am dealing with a elderly person that is in a re hab home as she broke her ankle, and she is very negative about everything bless her heart, I notice as I was getting ready to go see her i felt a strong shift and was feeling light in my body, feeling pretty good , went to visit and it was the best visit in 20 days, It was’nt till i got home that i realized i shifted energy and felt very good. I am going to continue to listen n really like the track idea, I am 62 and wanted to share my journey with this, thanks Linda

You say in the manual that we are all selfish and that whatever we do we do because it serves our needs. At the level of the personality I agree with you and yet my expereince of the default is an expereince of being a part of an aliveness that is greater than the “little me”….. what I do from balance in the personal me, energetically serves/impacts the whole. Does this fit in the next installment of the innner game?
Thanks for putting this together. The physical reference points really do provide a great way to check in and assess if I am in or out of default and quickly move myself back home when I have wandered.
